Poly World Announcements - Just In Case You Missed Them

Many thanks to Al Wierling, who uncovered these recently and sent them in. There are some valuable bits of information for those who may have missed them the first time around. By the way, Al sent these in with a note that they may not be in order, and that he wasn't that good at imposition. Al has probably forgotten that I am even worse at stripping. I used to spend a lot of time watching the art of stripping and always marveled at how artful that skill can be. Oh, well...here goes:

PolyWorld 1984

Many thanks to Brian Wittlin, who sent in this 1984 issue of Polyworld.

Brian has now earned a spot on the Gazpacho Soup line, but, due to the poor quality of the scan, he must go to the back of the line.

You may notice that the menu poll has closed, and today is April 1, 2009.

A recount now underway in our Chicago branch, will be made public after we make sure Gazpacho wins.

If you find any pictures or volumes from the past, send them here and become famous.

I will now attempt to place screen shots below of the PDF Brian was kind enough to send. Brian forgot that I read from right to left.

Apologies to Dominic for cutting off his mustache below...
You can click on the images to enlarge them.
That won't make them look better...just larger.

Harvey Hillock

Many thanks to Gina Brokaw, who sent in the pictures of
Harvey Hillock. As Gina wrote, “Everyone loved Harvey”,
and she could not be more right about that. Harvey was the
first TSR in the West to win the TSR of The Year Award
when I had the pleasure to present it to him. He will always
be remembered and loved by everyone.

That reminds me of a story Ray Bender told me about the
first sales person he ever encountered from Polychrome, when
Harvey called on him and said, “Why don’t you apply for the
Open Branch Manager’s job?”

Ray immediately applied for and got the job of Branch Manager
for Polychrome and never saw Harvey again. That is because
nobody ever saw Harvey in the office. Harvey was always making
sales calls. He just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t have to call on
Ray again.

Polychrome News has dug these pictures up, which Gina was kind
enough to provide, which shows Harvey at the office. He knew how
to work hard, as well as play hard. He also knew how to find those
free lunches, which is, after all, the purpose of this blog.

Thank you, Harvey. We will always love you!

Do You Recognize Your Name Here?

Click On The Picture To Enlarge

Many thanks to Phil Horlacher for sending in this issue.
I believe Phil kept this all these years because he was told he had to memorize all these names to get a promotion. Thank you, Phil.......you're promoted.

Interestingly, you will also find out who took your parking spot the day the photo was taken.

There is a napkin on one of the tables with a plan for the "Ultimate" Supply Rental Deal.

Notice how the Sales Table is washed out...
Everyone else is in color, or rich textures.
The Sales Department had an imbalance of ink.
Too much red, not enough black.
Something to do with Gazpacho, or the cost of shrimp in Phoenix.

If you like to see more, send in your pictures.
I will make sure I put a lot of dust on them before I scan them.

Ron Muzzillo says...."Rosemont"...or was it "Rosebud"?

Our spies have retrieved the following missive from Ron Muzzillo to Manny Roth.
My only comments here are...

Do they serve Gazpacho?

"Manny:
I spoke to my brother last night (in Chicago) and told him about
our tentative plans for a lunch or dinner reunion in Chicago.
He told me there are a lot of great places that could accommodate
us but one in particular, that his contracting group uses, is
the Rosewood Restaurant, in Rosemont (Higgins and River Road.)
Its also close to a number of hotels if people are traveling from
out-of-town:
Keep in touch-
Ron M"

Hey...wait a minute...I remember the inside of the Rosemont Emergency Room when a golf ball hit me square on my top lip. Some of you may remember it whizzing by you on its way to me. I have never shaved my mustache ever since because it now says "Titleist" backwards on my lip.

Gazpacho Takes The Lead

With only months left to decide on a menu, Gazpacho soup has taken the lead, once more.
It is a logical choice, and there is a very interesting story how it got on the menu in the first place.

It was another day on the road, and the meeting was brutal. The "numbers" were in, and the expenses were exceeding revenues. We were going through the wringer that day, sharpening and whittling our budgets under careful eyes. The meetings were no longer entertaining motivational experiences. It was a case of cut expenses fast or be gone. It was a gloomy day, until we were reprieved and invited to dinner. There were twenty of us at the table, and everyone was just glad to be there, so when it came time to order, everyone selected the least expensive item they could find.

When my turn came, I ordered a (small) dinner salad, and asked if they could also bring some Gazpacho soup. Then the person next to me ordered Gazpacho soup, and soon, everyone added Gazpacho soup to their order, except for the person glaring at me who was paying the check.

I had a lot explaining to do, but I weathered the storm.

Anyone for Gazpacho?
